Frequently Asked Questions What happens if I become ill?
We recommend that all volunteers have relevant medical insurance usually covered in your travel insurance. There are many good hospitals, doctors and medical clinics within the region that are up to western standards. In the event that you require medical assistance, we will try our up most to ensure that you are treated by an English speaking medic or accompanied by someone who speaks English, should you require.
Why do we have to pay to volunteer?
Whilst we appreciate the time commitment that you offer in order to run our organisation we need to charge a small fee to ensure the continuation of our project. We feel that our fee ($250USD) is a reasonable fee, it also ensures us that you are committed to joining the project.
Will I have access to the internet & telephone?
You will have access to a telephone and also there will be internet within your school. We do recommend that you purchase a local Thai SIM card, this can be done for around $1-3, please ensure that your mobile phone has been unlocked. Purchasing credit is very cheap in Thailand, and will allow you to make international calls and texts should you require.
Is travelling to Thailand safe?
All in all, travelling in Thailand is safe, we do not offer placements near any boarder areas or areas that are knowingly dangerous. We do recommend that before applying for volunteering experience that you check the travel advice being offered by your government for travelling in Thailand. During your volunteering experience your safety is important to us.
Do I require a Visa?
The majority of people travelling to Thailand will require a visa. However depending on how long you stay in Thailand volunteering or travelling will depend on the type of visa you will require. Once you have been accepted as a volunteer we can discuss your Visa requirements, and help you make any necessary arrangements to obtain the appropriate Visa.
Is there a minimum time commitment?
There is no minimum time commitment. We would prefer our volunteers to commit for a month, however we appreciate that this is not always possible. You can volunteer for as little as a week, but to gain the most from the experience we recommend a month. If volunteering for less than a month please let us know in your application.
