Accommodation

Apart from your initial night in Bangkok, you will be placed with a Thai family during your volunteering experience. We ask our schools to ensure that you are placed with a family that can offer you your own bedroom, with access to bathroom and toilet facilities. We expect the family to speak basic English, however you will always have access to a fluent English/Thai speaker should you require any further assistance with any matters. As well as provide you with breakfast and dinner your host family will also undertake your laundry as well. Dress
Thailand is a very conservative country when it comes to dress. As a volunteer teacher you will be seen as a respected member of the community and it is important that you present yourself approiately. Thailand can be a very hot and humid country so sensible clothing is recommended. For males we recommend that you wear a shirt, smart trousers and smart shoes. For females we recommend a smart dress or skirt and blouse. It is not advisable to wear shorts or open toe shoes. Food
Whilst volunteering you will be provided with three meals a day, we can cater for various dietary requirements if you provide details of this before. Rice is essential part of a Thai diet as well as a variety of curries and vegetables. Thai food is often quite spicy; however dishes can be adapted to suit volunteers. Volunteers with very specific dietary requirements may be required to supplement their meals at their own expense. Transport
You will be responsible for making your own way to Thailand. Once in Bangkok we will make arrangements to reserve a bus ticket for you to Chaiyaphum, you will be responsible for paying for this ticket (approx $5 one way). Once in Chaiyaphum we will arrange all further transportation to your placement school.
